イナブ・バラディーによると、ワシントンDCで、アトランティック・カウンシルと米シリア・ビジネス評議会の主催によるエネルギーと投資に関する対話会議が開催された。
会議に出席したトーマス・バッラク在トルコ米大使兼シリア担当特使は、中東地域が「歴史的に例外的な瞬間」にあるとしたうえで、シリアが精神的、地理的、地政学的な能力を有しており、ホルムズ海峡および紅海の問題に対する解決の一部となり得ると述べた。
会議には、バッラク大使のほか、米国のエネルギー・石油・技術企業の関係者、シリア石油会社のユースフ・キブラーウィーCEO、シリア国連常駐代表のイブラーヒーム・アラビー大使、ジェイコブ・A・マクギー米国務次官補補佐らが出席した。
